πΉ Canyon Conquest β Ranged DPS (backline pivot) officer-pinned
Pinned by R4 β for alliances whose roster is heavy on ranged carries. Source: Canyon Conquest guide by Guide Maker - S10 (Discord #πplayer-guide, 2026-08-29) + our officers' notes.
Core idea: per the official Canyon Conquest guide, intel beats raw might. Weaker alliances beat stronger ones by scouting the opponent's first march, reading their opening formation, and pivoting to the backline pivot formation below. This build is what we field when the opponent is locked into a tank-anchor opening.
Lineup
| Slot | Hero | Role | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front 1 (anchor) | Arthur | Tank | Same anchor as our Duel defense. The build pivots around keeping him up long enough for the ranged carries to do their work. |
| Front 2 (sustain) | Ulfrid | Tank (Warlock) | Renamed from "Brian" in the 2026-07-01 patch. Indomitable Spirit passive buys one more revive on the anchor β that extra life is the difference between winning and tying. |
| Back 1 (burst) | Marlena | Carry (DPS) | Single-target burst deletes the opponent's anchor in the opening exchange. |
| Back 2 (AoE) | Cynthia | Carry (ranger) | AoE cleans up if the opponent scatters. |
| Back 3 (sustained DPS) | Claire | Carry (Warrior, SSR) | Rapid single-target damage β best-in-SSR for sustained DPS. Swaps in for Daskal if we want more range. |
Why ranged over melee here
Canyon Conquest's scoring is point-based, and the backline pivot formation lets you pick off a single high-value target from outside the opponent's front-line threat range. If the opponent's anchor is squishy (Stellar + ranged DPS behind), Marlena's burst ends the fight in the first 10 seconds. If the opponent has a beefy anchor (Daskal + Arthur), the extra time lets the backline's sustained DPS (Cynthia + Claire) outpace them.
Pre-match checklist
- Scout the opponent's first march β what tank, what backline composition, what total might. The Canyon Conquest guide says this is the single biggest factor in who wins.
- Pick your pivot β if they have Daskal, bring Ulfrid for the Indomitable Spirit. If they have Bell, bring Harper instead of Claire for the death-trigger heal.
- Open with Marlena's burst β don't let the opening exchange stall into a positional war. The ranged formation's strength is alpha damage, not endurance.
- Save your 2nd skill for the counter β if the opponent pivots into a melee backline dive, use Cynthia's AoE to peel rather than chase kills.
Survivor slot recommendations
- Arthur β 3β + tank-bonus survivor (HP% secondary).
- Ulfrid β 3β + survivor with damage-reduction focus. He's the second anchor.
- Marlena β 3β + ATK-bonus survivor. Her burst is the win condition.
- Cynthia + Claire β 2β + ATK-bonus survivors. Backline DPS doesn't need top-tier survivors to function.
When this build doesn't work
- Opponent has 3+ melee backline divers (e.g. Kesso + Sivir + Ash). The ranged formation gets dove and dies. Switch to anchor-first Duel-defense instead.
- Your Marlena is < 3β equipped. Her burst is the win condition; without it you're playing a 4-hero game.
- Server age < 30 days. You likely don't have Cynthia, Harper, or Ulfrid yet β fall back to anchor-first Duel-defense.
